Everything John sees and hears is bracketed by this great fact: Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, is coming. Not "will come" but "is coming." The process is happening at this very moment. Jesus Christ is not sitting on the throne passively anticipating some future date when he gets up and moves toward us. He is moving even now. HE IS COMING! This blog is participating in that coming. Come Lord Jesus Come...

The Church as a sponge!
Chapter 6 in the Revelation and chapter 13 in D on the E gets CRAZY! The one point that stood out to me and encourages me is found on page 176 &177. "The mystery is that in absorbing the suffering, the kingdom comes! Things are not as they seem. The lamb is on the throne! And because He is, the most revolutionary thing we do is join creation in crying out, "COME!" And then choose to stand with the Lamb and absorb the suffering that comes when His kingdom collides with all that is not Holy and true". Absorb, absorb, absorb. In absorbing the suffering the Kingdom comes. Thing ARE not as they seem!

This is a hard teaching...
ReplyDeleteContinuing to dwell on it over the past several days, I feel like I'm understanding it more and more, but I'm not sure I fully understand the necessity of it. I don't think I do because I don't feel as though I can rejoice in that suffering yet. Though, I do believe that if we understand why the lamb chooses to work in this way, we are able to rejoice in it, because it glorifies his name, brings his kingdom, and does his will.
I think it's similar to picturing myself as a living sacrifice and daily picking up my cross. At first, that is a very hard teaching. It doesn't sound comfortable and absolutely doesn't seem like something that we can rejoice in. However, when we continue to learn that dying to our old self is the way of the lamb, and is bringing me to the natural position of the human spirit (on it's knees at the feet of Jesus) and is having away with the things of the flesh; I can rejoice in that.
Spirit of the Living God,
Do help us with the understanding and receiving of this Word, especially receiving.
